I am based at the University of Exeter. My PhD project is developing a technique to manipulate neural networks through combined optogenetics and computational approaches. As a first-year PhD student embarking on a unique and interdisciplinary research project, I faced the challenge of finding peers with similar research interests. Knowing the importance of collaborations in academia motivated me to create a platform that brings together aspiring scientists at the interface of neuroscience subdisciplines.

“Join our vibrant community of neuroscience PhD students from different universities as we come together to share knowledge, foster collaborations, and advance research in the field of neuroscience. Follow our LinkedIn page for the latest research highlights, expert insights, webinars, and more, all aimed at making neuroscience more accessible and promoting a global network of aspiring neuroscientists.

Together, let’s create a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and propel the world of neuroscience forward. Connect with us and be part of the journey to make the world a little smaller through easy knowledge sharing!”

Considering the demands of a PhD journey, this newsletter is designed to be accommodating and accessible. Our monthly editions will cover various sub-disciplines, providing a space for you to track your progress throughout your PhD and learn from others’ experiences.

By collaborating with peers who share your passion, you’ll find invaluable support, feedback, and insights that can significantly enrich your research endeavours. Whether you envision a future in academia or industry, our goal is to empower you with the tools, connections, and knowledge to excel in your chosen path.

That being said, let’s embark on this journey together, united by our passion for pushing the boundaries of neuroscience through interdisciplinary innovation and transform ideas into impactful discoveries!

Our Impact

Our impact is to gain recognition from charities, industries, clinicians, and wider academic groups to help make the world a little smaller, fostering easy knowledge sharing and global collaborations.

We promote Open Science Practices, advocating transparency, and accessibility, to inspire wider academic groups to adopt similar principles, leading to accelerated research progress.

Our University Representatives

We are currently a group of neuroscientists from the University of Exeter, Cardiff University, University of Bristol, University of London, and University of Plymouth. As ambassadors of our newsletter, we embody the spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing that underpins our vision.

Our current representatives are funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). As we continue to grow, we are also looking for representatives from other universities to volunteer for our mission and amplify the impact of the newsletter.

Future Goals

In near future, we are considering holding webinars and virtual conferences where neuroscience students can present their research to a global audience.

We also plan to enrich our interactions through in-person events and informal meetings. These in-person events will offer a unique platform for networking, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas in a relaxed and interactive setting. By fostering face-to-face connections, we aim to enhance the camaraderie and mutual support among neuroscience PhD students from various sub-disciplines.
